Bell Rock Trail in Sedona

Bell Rock: Everything You Need To Know For Your Visit

Bell Rock is one of Sedona’s most iconic red rock formations, making Bell Rock Pathway a must-do hike for visitors! Located just a short drive south of downtown Sedona near the Village of Oak Creek, the hike offers stunning views of Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte, and the surrounding area.

About Bell Rock

Named for its distinctive bell-like shape, Bell Rock is a prominent landmark in Sedona’s gorgeous red rock landscape. It’s also one of the area’s most well-known energy vortices, believed by many to radiate powerful, healing energy from the earth. The hike is easily accessible and offers breathtaking panoramic views of Sedona’s red rock formations.

The Trail

This is an easy to moderate hike, around 3.6 miles round trip. The pathway is mostly flat and well maintained, making it ideal for beginner hikers, families, and even mountain bikers. Dogs are welcome on the trail, but must be kept on a leash.

For those looking for more of a challenge, you can take on the steeper climb toward the top of Bell Rock, which includes rock scrambling and more difficult terrain.

The Bell Rock Trail also connects with other scenic beginner-friendly routes, including the Courthouse Butte Loop, Baby Bell, and Llama Trail. These are all great options if you want to extend your adventure.

Where to Park

You can access the hike at Bell Rock Trailhead North or South. Parking requires an America the Beautiful Pass or a Red Rock Pass, which you can purchase online in advance.

What to Bring

We recommend hiking early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the heat. The red rocks are incredible under the golden light during sunrise and sunset— don’t forget your camera!

Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and to bring sunscreen, plenty of water, and light snacks (especially if you plan to explore some of the connecting trails!)
